Learning indeed comes in different ways. It is good to know that one of the newest and accessible learning is through the use of blogs. This type of learning enables the students to enjoy and appreciate more what learning is. It whets the appetite and interest of the students. This also allows them to utilize the different modern technologies that today's world have.

What have we learned?
Faye, what is module 1 all about?
I have learned that assessment of student learning plays a vital role on student’s performance on how far they were developed and how teachers get valuable feedback from the learning of the students for a better and improved instruction.
However assessment on students learning varies differently depending on the terms for its functional role for the classroom instruction. It can be a Placement assessment which concerned is for the purpose of determining prerequisites skills for an entry performance of the students. Next is Diagnostic assessment, an assessment that is made to know the strength and weaknesses of the students about the certain topic given ahead of time before the instruction. It can be a Formative assessment that monitors the learning progress of the students after or during the instruction. Then next is Summative assessment which is usually given at the end of the course or unit that determine if the instructional objectives have been achieved.
Furthermore, I have learned that upon assessing students’ performance there are two ways on interpreting it. One is the Norm referenced-test and Criterion referenced-test. The Norm-referenced test is a test design to measure students’ performance compared to other student with other examinees usually rank in percentile or a grade equivalent score. While Criterion referenced-test is a test used to measured students performance compared to other student performance with respect to a standard or criterion.
Thus, assessing students performance helps to establish learning with rules and order, select appropriate educational objectives, develop a lesson plan, select and critique instructional materials and activities, monitor the instructional process and monitor students learning during instruction.
How about you Josephine in module 2?
To impart good assessment for students, establishing their learning target is indeed very important. According to Frederiksen and White, 2002, a possible reason for low achievement may be that many students do not understand what they are supposed to learn.
In able to help students learning, first and foremost we need to put into our mind what are the factors we need to consider and focus to assess students. What are the areas we need to enhance to help them see their capabilities. Establishing learning targets for the students has a big role in their learning. Where their Cognitive domain, Psychomotor domain and Affective domain should enhance and develop to help them to become a better one. In order also to meet these three factors, good and precise instructional objective is needed.
I’ve learned that establishing learning target play a big role in assessment. You cannot assess them completely without touching these three factors. I’ve also learned that if the learning target of a student will not properly grounded to where it is, then it will affect to their future. As it says, for what have students develop today will determine their learning tomorrow.

I have learned a lot in this class. There are a lot of learnings imparted on the different modules in the syllabus. But I was assigned to focus on the module 3 the keys to effective testing.
First and foremost, I knew that test is the procedure or the device used to obtain information. It has many uses in instruction, administration and guidance. In Instruction, test are used by the teachers to gain feedback on the effectiveness of instruction and also to determine the level of performance of the students.
On the other hand, tests are utilized to evaluate the efficiency of the curriculum in administration. It is said that poor test results of the students implies that the curriculum needs improvement or be changed.
And tests are also used to determine the field of expertise of the student and to know what kind of career they are to undertake.
Testing however is the process of administering, scoring and interpreting the test results. An effective testing gives high results from the test takers.
I have also learned that there are many factors that affect the construction of the test. These are validity, reliability, objectivity and many others. It is said that a test may be reliable but it can’t be valid. And all valid test are always reliable. I have also put in mind that the most important thing that a teacher must do in constructing the test is the preparation of the Table of Specifications. Learning is indeed fun-tastic!
Hey, Leofer what do you have in module 4?
Assessment took are indeed necessary in the development and progress of reaching – learning process for the fulfillment of one’s education. Such tools should not only be a one way of gathering information from the students, it should also be as appropriate and effective measuring tool in knowing students learning. In making it so, it is also deemed necessary for teachers and future teachers, like me to have a knowledge on the content, pointers and guidelines in handling and making these assessment tools.
Learning the basics of assessment tools did a great help to me in studies and learning beyond these tools including its uses, types, characteristics as well as its advantages and disadvantages will surely be a great bridging tool that would help me in the application of my education and learning in the world outside.
I learned that, teachers must have a film grasp of how to development these assessment tools. Say for instance, a test in order, it should not be that simple test as) to measure students’ knowledge or capabilities, the test should be constructed in a way that would truly fit the field to be measured. Moreover, it should be structured in a manner that would definitely give the best assessment for the students, themselves and do likewise for teachers for evaluation.
Development of assessment tools should be learned by every educational leaders, teachers and education students inspired for learning in order for them to have a total fulfillment teaching – learning effectiveness and efficiency and education, as a whole.

Test is an instrumental or systematic procedure design measures the quality, ability, skill or knowledge of student by giving a set of question in a uniform manner. Moreover, it consists of questions, exercises or devices to measure the outcomes of learning.
A good test should possess specific characteristics in the pursuit of the aims of education. Thus, it was planned and evaluated systematically. In considering a test we should observed first if it has all its parts. However, this characteristic serves as a guidepost for the betterment of once knowledge. In applying this characteristics in our personal lives help us in leading ourselves to a right track. It has a big impact in our learning’s, provided that this characteristic will be followed and also in planning for our future. In this way it serves as a set of standards for our own good. Individual’s entire existence can be explained in principle. Unity indeed underlies the world of together in similar ways. Regrettably, those characteristics help us to understand the nature and purpose of life.
After all, I can say that the characteristic of a good test plays an important role in the picture of education because in this way teachers can evaluate the students and allow for themselves.
How about module 6...
We have learned that item analysis is useful to get the reliability of the test items. We have known how to solve for the index of difficulty and index of discrimination in which it determines if the test needs to be revised, rejected, or accepted. In this manner, the test items are also analyzed if how difficult or easy the test items are.
Also, we have learned that a raw score is not meaningful unless it is interpreted.

Statistics is the science that deals with the collection, analysis and interpretation of numerical information. Thus, this science can be divided into two areas – descriptive and inferential statistics.
In exploring life, data can be used in different way. It can provide some facts, statistics or information either historical or derived by calculation or experimentation. Moreover, aside from its two areas it also gives some solid understanding that could help in preparing for the further study. The first one is the collection of data that gives some methods o use. Second, is the presentation of data that can be presented in three forms, the textual, tabular and graphical. Third, is the probability that is used to measure the certainty or uncertainty of occurrence of statistical phenomena. Fourth, are the measures of central tendency or position. Its most commonly measured criteria are range, variance and standard deviation. It some kind of problem solving matters.
For module 8, Jhonna what can you say?
Teaching learning process would be more effective and efficient if teachers and students are working in hand in assessing students performance and product of learnings. Assessment of student learning can be derived using various learning tools. These includes rubrics, portfolios and performance-based assessment like individual or group projects, performance and students logs and journals.
In this module I learned the need of these assessment tools in improving learning and instruction for the fulfillment of education. Assessment tools are helpful in determining who among the students excel and who among the students who needs intervention and remediation in terms of their given performance. Learning to construct and structures such tools are indeed necessity for teachers to enhance instruction and likewise, for students to keep track with their learnings.
The effectiveness of such tools depends upon its quality and standard sets before it is handed down to students. The great challenge is therefore set before the teachers and students like. Teachers prepare this tools and students are the ones responsible of understanding its quality for assessment of their own learning through the products of their performance.

Grade and marks are indicatives on how much the learners attained the learning from which the teacher teach during the classroom instruction. I had learned that marks and grades on report cards serve as reflection on how the learner has attained and performed on the class during instruction. Giving grades base on the learners performances are usually based on criteria for making the grades. However, grades are solved based on grading system depending on the teacher or curriculum standard.
Moreover grades functions as evidences on learners’ part as a feedback of their performance while learning, that is how it plays a crucial part on teachers task on how to deliver well the lesson towards the learner as it contributes a lot on learners way of acquiring the information from the lesson. Thus, grades and marks are not just simply numbers being printed on the report of grades but a reliable source of information on how the students performed and serve as guidelines on how teacher must do well on their task to uplift the learner’s interest and critical thinking.
